Manchester, UK - Juergen Maier, managing director of Siemens Automation and Drives, based in Manchester, has been appointed head of the company’s newly created ‘Industry’ sector in the UK employing 5000 people throughout the UK. The appointment is part of a global reorganisation at Siemens, which organises the company into Industry, Healthcare and Energy segments.
Maier will assume this sector-wide role in addition to his ongoing responsibilities for the Automation and Drives division. He will remain based in the Manchester office. He will be joined by Robin Phillips, currently finance director of Siemens Automation and Drives, who will take on the role of finance director for Industry in the UK.
Siemens Industry Group includes businesses working with manufacturing, transport, construction and utility customers and will help to better align the company with high-growth industry sectors and offer more complete and bespoke solutions to customers, according to a group statement.
"Our aim with this re-organisation is to develop a more strategic approach to customers based upon in-depth knowledge of sector issues and delivering combined Siemens solution," commented Maier.
