Purpose of Post
To work as part of the Competent Body within the Quality Assurance Manual certified by UKAS to BS EN45004 to provide plant integrity management and responsible for all inspection related activities up to the authorised level.
Roles and Responsibilities
To carry out duties assigned by the Inspection Group Leader (IGL) and in accordance with the Inspection Group Quality Assurance Manual and Statutory and Company regulations.
To compile, maintain and update an inspection schedule for all relevant items of plant and equipment within a designated area, and liaise with the area Asset Availability Team to ensure that all inspections may be carried out in accordance with the procedures and at the scheduled intervals. Also, advise the IGL of the schedule status at regular intervals with particular attention where inspections have not been carried out.
To carry out all inspections within the designated authorisation, in accordance with the assigned Written Scheme of Examination (WSE) and inspection scope detail such that, following any remedial works stipulated from the examination, equipment integrity is assured when operations are maintained within the equipment design envelope.
To compile, maintain and update accurate inspection records (hard copy and/or electronic) for all relevant mechanical fixed equipment, protection devices and lifting related equipment within a designated area. This includes all procedural and statutory documentation requirements.
To review and endorse where appropriate, such documentation that requires Inspection authorisation at the assigned level. This will include inspection reports originating from IG personnel assigned a lesser Category, drawings, workscopes, design changes etc. within the scope of authority.
To assist the area Asset Availability Team with the compilation of work-scopes and job-plans associated with inspection requirements.
To provide assistance as required, in the compilation, maintenance and upkeep a comprehensive set of procedures in line with the QA Manual and based on current Statutory and Company standards, guides and codes of practice including, Health & Safety at Work Act, Pressure System Safety Regulations
To participate in the provision of an information or consultant service to the refinery and the wider Petroplus organisation, for any group involved with materials selection, corrosion control or mechanical design changes where inspection based knowledge could improve the safety or reliability of the plant.
To assist in the coaching and guidance of other IG personnel in fields that you may be considered to have greater knowledge and/or experience.
To support the development and implementation of IG objectives that align with the Refinery objectives and the inspection function accountabilities for plant integrity assurance and continuous improvement with particular emphasis on matters of safety, competence and training.
Active participation in Refinery strategy development and implementation teams as appropriate.
Active participation in discipline related Petroplus Petroplus and external networks where appropriate.
Responsible for ensuring that own knowledge is captured effectively and transferred to and from others as appropriate.
Awareness of High Reliability Organisation (HRO) principles with progressive application.
Responsibility for control of Major Accident Hazards as relevant to your post as described in the Control of Major Accidents and Hazards [COMAH] Establishment Report for Coryton Refinery [Section 5.1.1].

An appropriate knowledge of refinery materials and associated degradation mechanisms
Familiarity with (use of) relevant national regulations and national & international standards where appropriate.

• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent

• Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent

• Ten years relevant experience, three years within an inspection function associated with major pressure systems in a petrochemical environment.
Category 2
• Five years relevant experience, at least one year within an inspection function associated with major pressure systems in a petrochemical environment.
