Purpose of Post
To manage a portfolio of Capital Projects or a single large project, greater than $10M, from concept through to operation following appropriate capital investment processes and principles.
Roles and Responsibilities
ENSURES PROJECTS MANAGED EFFECTIVELY & EFFICIENTLY
• Fulfil the Single Point Accountability (SPA) role through all project stages of the Capital Value Process for each allocated project.
• Accountable for safety performance on all allocated projects
• Support the business strategy by implementing refinery projects that improve performance in the following areas; HSE, availability, cost and growth.
• Manage the development of capital projects from conception through to completion of the project.
• Lead multi functional teams to evaluate and develop proposals into defined projects or strategies.
• Develop options for each project that align to the business/area strategies and make recommendations to senior management on the validity of individual projects,
• Working within existing and participate in the development of project processes
• Make appropriate use of project assurance processes (e.g. Peer Reviews)
PROJECT CONTROL & MANAGEMENT
Ensure that the revex and capex funds are managed for all allocated projects with delegation of authority. Provide updates of project budget and schedule forecasts on a monthly basis
INTERFACE WITH REFINERY DEPARTMENTS
• Work with business development to facilitate and capture the generation of new ideas to develop the business
• Work with the asset and functional teams to promote the project processes and capture ideas.
• For individual projects generate alignment and full support for project work scope, through endorsement of the work order brief, with the key customer groups; the asset and functional disciplines
• Promote consensus within the projects group and projects alliance partners and foster relations with the refinery teams.
GENERAL
• Ensures efficient and effective transfer of knowledge with new and exiting team members.
• Responsibility for control of Major Accident Hazards as relevant to the post as described in the Control of Major Accident Hazards [COMAH] Establishment Report for Coryton Refinery [Section 5.1.1].

Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications / Certifications
Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline e.g. Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Business Administration.
Experience
A minimum of 10 years relevant experience in petrochemicals, project engineering, process engineering or other similar position desirable.
