Job Description
Our client is a highly profitable food manufacturing business, with a strategy to grow and develop further. An exciting opportunity exists for an Engineering Manager to join the business and manage a team of maintenance and project engineers within a busy engineering function.
The jobholder will preferably be multi-skilled with at least 5 years engineering management experience. A background within Food and Drink / FMCG manufacturing is also required, as is a demonstrable track record within people development and efficiency improvement. The Engineering Manager will sit on the senior management team alongside the Production Manager, Quality Manager, Finance manager and HR Manager, and will contribute to site strategy and profitability.
The role will involve the setting and achieving of engineering targets for the overall effectiveness of equipment and the on-going development and training of the engineering team. A further key focus of this role will be the management of CAPEX projects (supported by project engineers), so strong technical engineering skills and experience of managing CAPEX budgets is desirable. Experience of implementing improvement tools such as 5s and SMED would also be beneficial. Another key task of this role will be the undertaking of a ‘change management’ process (supported by senior management), aimed at modernizing the culture of the business by the implementation of modern management and manufacturing approaches.
Previous experience of leading or contributing to a ‘cultural change’ activity would therefore be invaluable to this position.
